How to decide on a "development branch" in programming?

It's simple: I want to learn programming, but I can't decide which way to go, but you can make websites, write any programs, do 1C, for example, train robots, and so on ... as far as I understand, there are a great many areas. I'm 29 and I'm at a turning point in my life. Programming is my childhood dream - I have already achieved a lot and remembered that I could not achieve it. There are more than enough goals and aspirations - I started learning Python on the steppe, but stopped because I didn’t understand why I need this particular language? Everything stopped on how to decide on a profile, because it is from this that you need to start learning a language that will be more convenient for "profile" tasks.
I downloaded textbooks on html, c, sisharp many times, but I always stopped because of a lack of understanding of what I would do with them.
The worst thing is that there is not a single acquaintance in the IT field, there is no one to ask the simplest "stupid beginner questions".
I don’t really want to make websites, apparently it was beaten back at school in computer science lessons, but as far as I know, I still have to go through it. Maybe I just don’t know what it is to the fullest, maybe I’ll like it ...)
I know how to work. I am engaged in the collection, generalization and analysis of information in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Painstaking and tedious work is mine. I also believe that there are no unsolvable things. You can do anything, the main thing is to make sense.
How I see the solution to my problem today: I want to get into a small (this is not accurate) team of developers, or simply under the guidance of some person with whom I will contact, learn, develop, perform any tasks and further help in the work /projects, and make plans for the future. I would like to get into this "IT" party. Live it.
As of today, I have 18-22 hours a week of time (I still serve in the RF Armed Forces), if there is something terribly interesting, I will naturally allocate more.
Ready for criticism. I will read the comments and work on myself and my mistakes. Peace for everyone.

Programming in a vacuum makes no sense. First set a goal, then choose an instrument.

but I can’t decide which way to move, but you can make websites, write any programs, do 1C, for example, train robots and so on ... as far as I understand, there are a lot of spheres

Move where you want to go.
I'm 29 and I'm at a turning point in my life.

Lord. Yes, everyone does.
More than enough goals and aspirations - I started learning Python on the steppe,

Ah, well, good luck.

O! Figase. Here is the profile that you like - that one and choose.
I downloaded textbooks on html, c, sisharp many times, but I always stopped because of a lack of understanding of what I would do with them.

It was necessary to decide first, and then download. Are you always like this? First you do it, and then you think why?\

Trouble is trouble. It's a pity freelancing hasn't been invented yet...
apparently he was beaten back at school in computer science lessons

If you want, hit it back.
But as far as I know, I still have to go through it.

What kind of nonsense?
Painstaking and tedious work is mine.

Then it's better to test.
I am engaged in the collection, generalization and analysis of information in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Or analytics.
I want to get into a small (this is not accurate) team of developers, or simply under the guidance of some person with whom I will contact, learn, develop, perform any tasks and further help in work/projects, well, make plans for future.

I'm glad for you, but you didn't fucking give up there. First people study - then they work, not vice versa.
the main thing is to make sense.

The meaning of fiction.
The time I have as of today is 18-22 hours a week

When it comes to programming - with this amount of time you will learn forever.

Programming is a tool. You need to start learning from the basics and, preferably, from a real problem.
Read books about algorithms, come up with a task for yourself (you can search for lists of programming tasks) and start implementing it, for example, in Java - it’s easier to relearn from this language later on. And there it will be easier to answer the question in which direction to develop.
