How to deal with fonts, in particular with Helvetica?

Swimming in licensing.
There is a company that says they have the Helvetica corporate font. How it became corporate and whether they bought it is a thing of bygone days and the devil will break his leg.
As far as I understand it is a paid font. Accordingly, it must be bought.
What should I do when making a site for them:
- ask them for a font and make the license issue their problem, knowingly indicating this moment
- download it on the Internet (there are a lot of options, but apparently illegally) and make the license issue their problem, knowingly indicating this moment
- buy the font
What do you advise. And if there is a reading on the subject of licensing fonts - I will be grateful for the link. We need to figure it out.

And nothing else. Otherwise, all the cones with the rights will fall on you. And so always hands are clean - they don’t give, you don’t do it.
