How to cut a selection in Adobe Illustrator?

I drew a logo in vector, but at the end I ran into a problem. There is a solid outline with a black fill, on top of it there is another outline with the same fill. How can I make both of these paths transparent? For more clarity, look at the attached screenshot (letter "e"). It is necessary to make sure that there is a gap in the center of this letter. For the letter "o" is also relevant, there is now just a white fill.
PS Problem solved. Select with an arrow the area where you want to remove the contours, and subtract the unnecessary using Pathfinder.
