How to crop the resolution on a monitor connected to a laptop?

If I reduce the resolution on the laptop screen, the image is simply cropped. but if I do it with the monitor screen connected to the laptop, then the picture just becomes less clear. How can I make the image on the monitor be cropped in the same way as on the laptop?

Also, below there is a fad where you can choose what you want to scale (or not scale) the image on. Usually, in order for what you want to work, you need to select the GPU instead of the display.
