How to create Portable Apps?

Hello!
There are many instructions on the Internet for creating Portable versions of programs!
Is it possible to do the same with games?
I tried VMWare ThinApp WorldOfTanks - it doesn't compile, Freelancer - file with system keys is missing!
I will try with MetroExodus.
It is necessary that the saves, levels and pumping of the character are portable in the portable!
Help me please!
Thank you in advance!

So maybe just transfer the "profiles" themselves? Fortunately, most often they are stored separately from the games (well, except for the old freelancer, it could also be in the game folder).
And for quick access, it's enough to use symbolic links or connection points created in places where games store these profiles, and store the profile folders themselves ... at least on a flash drive.
For the convenience of working with various types of links, I recommend the Hard Link Shell Extension program

No way.
If the program is as simple as a stick, in order to create a portable version, you only need to tell the program where to store the settings.
If the program is complex and uses a lot of resources, then for portability you will have to drag 10-30 GB of libraries, intercept a bunch of settings, and rewrite the program by half.
Therefore, some programs can be made portable versions, some are impossible or so laborious that it does not make sense.

Last time it worked fine in Win7.
If the program does not use the registry, then it is enough to redefine the ProgramData and AppData directories through environment variables and disable all possible integration in the settings.
What's the problem with games? GOG saves are synchronized via the cloud, Steam started doing this even earlier.
