How to create ftp config in ubuntu similar to ssh config?

Ubuntu has a great feature for creating an ssh config in ~/.ssh/config. After that, you can easily connect to servers via ssh by simply typing ssh server1 in the console. Is it possible to do something similar, in terms of aliases, for ftp connections?
