How to create a stack in photoshop script?

It is required to write a simple script that creates a stack of several layers in a given mode (for example, median), as in the standard Statistics.jsx script. The problem is that the function executeAction(eventID[, descriptor][, displayDialogs]) responsible for this is very sparsely documented in the documentation, and I could not get it to work as it should. More specifically, I'm wondering how to create the descriptor argument correctly ?
