How to counter online threats of violence?

I understand that the topic does not quite correspond to the theme of the resource, but I think the guests here have met various Internet warriors more than once.
At the entrance we have a passenger who, in personal correspondence, threatens to break all my bones. I think I did the right thing by refusing to meet him.
Actually, I'm interested in my next steps. Reasoning as a pragmatic person, I left him my phone number in order for him to call me. Actually, a phone number is not an address with a residence permit. The logic is this - if he calls me, I will write down his phone number and attach it to the statement to the police. I will say that he threatened me on the phone.
I also called the police themselves - they do not mind accepting a statement from me. They say the more information I provide about him, the better.
Logs are kind of good, but I don't think they're of much use.
Actually I want to know the real experience of similar situations. I understand that 90% is a complete drain. Interested in the remaining 10%.
Worst option (if he continues)
1. I write a statement
2. He still meets me somewhere in the city (well, let's wait - this is the worst option)
3. If he still hits, then I try to fight back / run away (do not care what) and I am writing another statement to the police on the fact of corporal. The first statement only reinforces everything.
4. PROFIT
What threatens him in the absence of really significant connections?
The variant of trolling the character is also interesting. What are the options?
It is possible only more or less real experience\history?

@OnYourLips

I meet with him (well, let's assume - this is the worst option), preferably in a crowded place

Do you have nothing else to do?
Tell him that you can't honor him with a face-to-face meeting because you're not interested .
And that's it, the question is closed.

Grow up.

@butteff

How old are you?
Do you have time to go and write statements, go to interrogations and courts?
Nobody cares until something really happens.
The maximum that will happen is that the district police officer will talk to him, I think.
Give his phone number to the pranksters, that's all.
