How to correctly prepare SVG for turning into a font?

I have SVG icons drawn in Illustrator, I want to turn them into a font using icomoon.io. After processing, all the icons show strong distortions and irregularities, some are not displayed at all. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

I’m also dealing with this issue now, if it’s still relevant, a couple of tips.
1. Take a ready-made icon or draw it directly in illustrator
2. group the elements so that they are saved in svg with one path parameter without 100500 separate elements, it helps a lot later in the layout
3. Do expand as indicated here
4. save and import into the font on iconmoon
Z.Y. There is another point regarding the size of the icon, here by experiment, probably, I had problems with the final assembled font, different character sizes
