How to correctly distribute cores in Proxmox?

Good afternoon,

There is a physical server with 1 processor and 4 cores on it Proxmox, it has one virtual machine and almost all resources are given to it, if I want to add another VM, I will have to cut the CPU (core) resources from the first one or the same give it 2-4 cores and virtual machines will alternately use resources?

@Drno

Ideally, the total number of cores should correspond to the real CPU
. Otherwise, the machines will be processed one by one at max load

More importantly, remember to enable numa and use memory ballooning.

For your task, the best option is to give all the cores to all machines and set the priorities of the processor time queue in cpuunits
