How to correctly choose a PHP framework for further development?

The situation is this, you need to choose the most optimal PHP framework. PHP base is well developed. I do not want to make a mistake at this stage with the choice. I wish to hear the reasoned advice of the old-timer PHP. How are frameworks different and what are their features?

At the moment there are only two reasonable options: Symfony and Laravel
The choice between them depends on your future applications.
Although I would start with Symfony, it will be easy to jump to laravel later if time requires.
