How to copy files from shares on Windows Server 2008 R2 if there are long filenames on the share?

Hello. There is a task to transfer files to a new ball raised on a separate NAS. There was a problem with long file names, it is not possible to copy them to a new ball (about a thousand files).

What has already been tried:

  • Copying to Total Commander did not help. Through it, now I compare the new ball with the old one for missing files
  • FAR
  • Robocopy. There are suspicions that I did not fully understand it.
  • subst. Mounted separately taken problematic directories, but there are too many of them.

Can you please tell me what other options you can try? It is advisable to keep the old file names.

Make a virtual disk from the partition where the files are located and mount it to Windows 10 or server 2019. They have a tweak that includes support for long names.
