How to convert HTML5 to XML compatible syntax?

While writing pages in valid HTML5, I assume that there may be a need to convert everything to XML (XHTML?)-compatible syntax. That is, put slashes in single tags, convert attributes of the checked type to checked="checked" and what else...
Is there any program or service that can be used to perform such a conversion automatically?
