How to convert DAT to another format?

Hello.

There is a DAT file 1 GB in weight. Notepad++ won't open because it's written too big.
The goal is to convert all this to CVS or Excel.

How to do it? And how do you open such a large file?

DAT is not some standard extension, anything can be there, for example, data in a proprietary format.
Open with viewer, not editor - Far (F3), less under Linux

If the text data separator is a tab, then try to import into Excel as TSV (tab separated values) or as fixed column width. If commas, then as CSV.
