How to connect your Woocommerce template correctly?

I created a "woocommerce" directory in the theme folder, placed the single-product.php template and content-single-product.php template there, as well as the "woocommerce/single-product/" directory with all nested modules.
But for some reason editing only content-single-product.php works, I can't change the header in single-product.php, remove the sidebar, and so on.

How is this supposed to happen, what did I do wrong?
