How to connect to MySQL in Ubuntu?

Hello!

I installed Ubuntu on my computer and I want to develop locally with this OS. Installed MySQL Workbench and the mysql-server package.

When I try to connect as root, I get an error that I can't connect.

Can you explain step by step how to do it?

I enter the command sudo mysql -u root into the terminal, it works.

What is the exact error that you are unable to connect to?
If the error text is "Access deined for user", then you are simply entering the password incorrectly.
This solution helped me once.
