How to connect pycharm to github without password and is it even possible?

Hello. I apologize in advance for the confusing question. At the moment, the problem is solved, but it remains unclear how it works .... so the essence.
Previously, I pushed my application directly to Heroku, and then I decided to transfer it to github and connect it to Heroku. My paycharm was not connected to my github, I decided to do it and somehow it went automatically in a couple of clicks, with the opening of the authentication page and it seems that I was connected (I didn’t enter the password anywhere). Because i wanted to migrate the project with all the old commits, i just chose "share project on github". And as a result, the project is created on the github (empty), but the push does not go there (I didn’t literally write down the notification from paycharm, but something like project created but push was failed (public key) check your rights).
After a lot of fiddling and dancing with SSH keys that didn't work, I just reconnected with a password and it worked.
The question remains, why is it so, if paycharm did not receive rights from my github, how could he create a project?
