How to connect a Samsung TV as a second monitor for iMac?

Greetings to all readers. I have the following problem: I have a new iMac 4k 21.5" (2017) running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 which has 2 Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports to connect additional monitors to it and has a Samsung 32" 1080p HD TV ( UE32C) 2011. The TV has 4 HDMI ports - 1 port is connected to an Apple TV, which works fine, and I try to connect an iMac to the other free ports using the EZQuest cable. The connection, it seemed to me, should have been quite trivial - I connected the cable to the poppy, connected it to the TV, opened the monitor settings in the system settings, chose the location of the screens and, in principle, everything, but the TV is not detected by the system - there is no connection. The TV has a black screen and there is no 2nd display in macOS settings. What could be the problem besides a naturally faulty cable?

@treegor

You need to restart the Mac with the TV connected.

So this is ... but did you try to select the desired input in the TV settings?
