How to connect 2 monitors to a laptop?

There is a laptop with Linux OS - Xiaomi mi notebook pro. It has 1 hdmi port, I want to connect 2 monitors. How to implement it? If I buy a USB-HDMI adapter and plug a second monitor into it, is that even legal? So will it work?
