How to connect 2 external monitors to a laptop?

I want to connect a second external monitor to my laptop, but there is only one HDMI port, there is also VGA - I checked it, it terribly lathers the image, so it's not an option.
I looked for what is - I found this option Toshiba Dynadock Docking Station (PA3927U1PRP) :
1. I did not find if this device works under Linux, can anyone tell me?
2. Can there be other alternatives to this device?
The laptop suits me, except for the lack of a second digital video output, but if there are no options for connecting 2 external fullHD monitors under Ubuntu (or even 3 is better - it would be nice to connect a 50" panel too :)), then, apparently, I 'll have to pick up another laptop
update:
I tried 2 more times (with an interval of several hours) to connect an LCD monitor via VGA.
Okay, I exaggerated about "terribly blurry", but the fact is that blurit, under a magnifying glass, checked the pictures - black text on a light background with a vga-connected pixel blur is visible, something like the cleartype effect in Windows XP - so the picture and looks fuzzy. The feeling of "sand" in the eyes is created, I want to wipe them)
For the purity of the experiment. checked under Windows 8 - the same effect, ie. it's not an OS issue.
I played with the screen settings - turned it on and off, changed the resolutions.
On bourgeois sites I met answers in which they say that the cable may be to blame. But my cable came with an LG panel, in addition, there were magnetic plaques in the kit (as I understand it, for cable shielding) - I tried with them and without them - there is no difference. But until I check with another cable, of course, I won’t say that it’s not the case.
As for the tips - there is nothing to direct. there are no powerful electrical appliances either in the room or behind the wall.

why is it impossible to connect one monitor via hdmi, and the second one via VGA ports. At least I can't get it. either one or the other works. but not two together
