How to compare time correctly?

I am receiving and writing the time as a timestamp, how do I know if 20 minutes have passed?

Answer 1

This is the time in seconds. Subtract the results of the last measurement from the current time. If more than 20*60 have passed, then more than 20 minutes have passed.

Once a second (or five) compare the recorded and current time in a separate thread.
