How to collapse or block part of text in QPlainTextEdit?

I need to temporarily collapse the text from line n1 to line n2. Collapse it and leave only its outermost lines in an unmodifiable state. Tell me which side to dig, where to read about similar functionality or what tags to google for I found nothing.
A similar question was probably asked on qna three years ago, but the link in the answers no longer works.
I am working in python3.7.
