In such cases, the OS is launched in a virtual machine, a snapshot is taken before starting work, and after completion, the virtual machine rolls back to this snapshot. This is the only way to guarantee that there are no traces of the deed left in any corners of the disk. No "purge" can give such guarantees. You also cannot rely on the built-in "snapshots" (that's right, in quotes) in some operating systems.
