How to choose the right web server bundle?

There is a VPS 512 RAM, Debian 7, DLE site engine. I can not be determined in a bunch of web servers. There are a lot of examples on the Internet, but they are all different and always with holivars. So I can't be specific. Knowledgeable people advise a full-fledged and smart bunch of a web server, preferably without apache. And Question, how many visitors can this vps approximately pull? With all the right optimization. Those who know, tell me if it’s hard work)))

nginx+php-fpm You
can only find out how much it will take with the help of testing. It is impossible to calculate in advance.

Thanks for the prompt replies), but do I need to install anything else in addition, for example, eAccelerator, memcached and similar add-ons? Or is it all redundant?

It's always better to test, because everything depends on the server, engine, data volume, etc. This is often unpredictable. If you have time, then you should do the following:
Load the site with test data with a large margin.
Make multiple connections. (if you have a VDS, it will be easy to roll back the server through snapshots)
Write a Siege script that will rape the site.
And then look at the load, the number of failures and the response time on Siege.
Next, choose the link with the best results, or the first link whose results are acceptable.

If you use the cache, then no more than 1000 or even less.
Well, from 100 for sure.
nginix 1.7+ memcache + php-fpm + optimization.
It's better not to use "accelerators" for the database, I've seen a couple, but the increase is no more than 30% + it can affect, in a bad way, more resources will be required. Better your server 512MB of RAM is nothing.
I have a server, there are 4 cores 8 threads "3.6GHz / 8mb l3" ssd in a mirror with 24GB of RAM, according to tests it drags ~ 39,000 users. Everything is set up and optimized.
