How to choose the right laptop/processor for parents?
Actually, mom wants a laptop, the only requirement is at least 15
"
.
dealing with laptops, all the time only desktops or something near-server/network, because the head is already spinning: on the one hand, for browsing, it will be enough for an arduino of some kind of atom or celeron, and a discrete card is not needed. But on the other hand, there is $600 budget and needspend it, so why not buy something more powerful? With my laptop-amateurish look, I caught on the ASUS X550CC-XX127D - it seems that the processor is quite economical (which in theory will give more runtime without a socket) and the card is discrete (it's not clear why, but the laptop is not bought for two years, I hope). From brands - I tend to trust only Asus, I don’t know why, it happened so historically.
As an option - I'm still considering the X550LA-XX009D, there is no discrete card, but i3 4 generations (Haswell).
Dissuade me from buying this model, or can you give advice on the choice and personal experience?
Thank you in advance.

The recipe is simple: take your mom, go to the store and buy a laptop that she likes.
Your mother, like any other, absolutely does not care whether integrated video or discrete, two cores or four, as well as what kind of matrix response is there.
Ask your mom: "Is runtime without an outlet important to you?"
Not a psychic, but I foresee the answer: "Yes, I just need to watch a movie and write to Lyudka in my classmates."
Your mom will never appreciate what a cool and technological laptop you have chosen, but she may not understand why you did not buy that pink one.
In addition, the price of $600 is not the price segment in which you can suffer from the choice.
