How to choose home acoustics 5.1 with the ability to connect via optical cable?

I want to buy a WD media player that has an optical audio output. I would like to connect 5.1 sound to it. The problem is that there are practically no 5.1 acoustics with a built-in optical input + decoders. There is a model SVEN 435d, but the reviews about it are not encouraging. Is there any solution how to decompose optical 5.1 signal into standard analog signals for LF,RF, RL, RR, Ce, Sub speakers? Are there any other solutions than buying an expensive receiver? What is Audio Gear Decoder and will it help me?

There aren't many acoustics like this.
Options: 1 - external 5.1 zvukovuha with optical input (there are few of them, but there are) + any active 5.1 speakers. 2 - AV-receiver + set of passive acoustics with an active subwoofer.
