How to choose components for a PC on Linux?

I want to build a good, fit PC running Linux-based OS. Advise how to select hardware so that you can easily get maximum performance under a Linux operating system! Indeed, for example, most video cards are designed for Windows and the latest drivers are written for it. Under Linux, at best, crooked ports.

We go to the website of our favorite distribution and read HARDWARE.TXT there
. You won't believe me, but absolutely everything is written there.
Quite fresh pieces of iron may not be indicated, but then we look at the forum of our distro.

There is a list on the Ubuntu website https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecommendedHardware
I would pay special attention to Wi-Fi, network card, video card.
And if there is an opportunity to buy a branded device, then everything is here www.ubuntu.com/certification
In general, to kill two birds with one stone, I would take what is also suitable for Hackintosh at the same time .

Collect what you like. In Ubuntu, for example, everything will almost certainly work out of the box.

Performance depends primarily on the assembly and type of linux and straight arms, and only then on hardware. You can also cut the xeon down. So it all depends on finances and the ability to assemble the system for yourself. If with the expectation of a slow subsequent upgrade, the expectation of a possible return to Windows and "play a little" - then take something the same as me:
1 61831 ASUS B85M-G (RTL) LGA1150 PCI-E Dsub+DVI+HDMI GbLAN SATA MicroATX 4DDR-III
2 185138 Kingston HyperX Fury DDR-III DIMM 16Gb KIT 2*8Gb CL10
3 203947 CPU Intel Core i3-4170 BOX 3.7 GHz/2core/SVGA HD Graphics 4400/0.5+3Mb/54W/5 GT/s LGA1150
Second column - article on nix.

There has been no problem with video drivers for a long time, if only to contact ancient hardware, like Radeon HD 4xxx. Problems are mainly with peripherals, such as wi-fi usb whistles, webcams, and so on.
