How to choose a resolution for creating a website design?

Good afternoon. The question is rather how to build the process of creating a website design and transfer it to further layout. Initially, I drew the design at a resolution of 1366 * 768px (the resolution of my monitor) and saved separately all the image files that I used in the design at the maximum resolution. However, I came up with the idea that it’s easier to draw a design under 1920px * 1080px and immediately pull out all the images necessary for layout from the psd file. In the first case, I get a design that I will see on my monitor after layout (and with which the layout designer who has the same monitor will compare his work), in the second case, there is much less hassle with post-processing of images that will be used in the project ( I just pulled everything from the psd file and pasted it on the site). Perhaps there is an alternative? How are you doing?

I used to start with 1440 (Artboard) and 1152 (container 1120+16+16). For other resolutions, you need to work with the design separately (move / reduce / group, etc.), because everything is in a vector, and if there is graphics, then it is either in smart objects (if Photoshop) or in a separate folder. Try to send the layout from PS via zeplin.io, it is much more convenient for everyone (plugin in Ps → Zeplin → login / password to the layout designer and no heavy files, quick update, css and html, etc. :)

@Sanes

1200+
960 — 1200
640 — 960
<640

This is usually enough

Responsive design has now finally become the standard. In principle, you will not make a layout that is adequate for both a phone and Full HD.
As a base, you can take 1280 or 1024, and then adapt it to 1920 and phones.
You can start with a mobile version (the Mobile First methodology is now popular)
