How to choose a navigator with augmented reality on the iPhone?

In a couple of months I plan to go abroad, I go “savage”, without a ticket and mandatory excursions. I read the article habrahabr.ru/post/151188/ and wanted to ask the community if there is anything similar for the iPhone? Requirements are normal:
Support walking.
The presence on the map of relevant places with attractions (preferably with a brief description), catering places, transport scheme (metro, bus).
Or will the built-in Maps app (which is Google Maps itself) suffice

Of course offtopic, but still I will write my experience.
A year ago, when I was abroad, I used only google maps. Before leaving, I was not too lazy, one day I sat on Google, found all the most popular sights of the destination, possible hotels and eateries, and marked them on the smartphone map as favorites. How could I search the cities on my smartphone so that everything is saved in the cache (I know, it’s stupid, but it was the first thing that came to mind and did not require expenses, and if you needed to update the maps on the spot, you can find a cafe, mall, hotel with wifi). Then you no longer had to look for anything and you could navigate by gps and yellow stars. We didn’t take buses, we walked, rode bikes (I advise for towns with numerous historical monuments) or the metro (fortunately, all cities have approximately the same metro and an attentive person should not get lost).
In any case, this method is better than nothing, it may even save you if you get lost. Which of course you don't want.

Abroad, Google Maps is practically not applicable, because there will be very expensive traffic.
For driving around Europe by car, I recommend tomtom. Attractions and a paper map you can take for free at the nearest tourist info. This scheme has been tested and works
