How to check website design for uniqueness?
Actually a question.
I am designing a homepage template. The customer claims that the design is not unique. It is necessary that it was like "from under the fold".
I am convinced that the entire current design is a kind of symbiosis of what already exists plus some kind of "chips". I mean, plagiarism is still there.
Accordingly, the design itself cannot be unique. The main thing is that it is not completely licked from some other template downloaded from the network.
How, in this case, to check the "purity" of your design, maybe there are some resources that "scan" the page or something like that? So that you can poke the customer, they say the design is 70% clean.

If he is so brilliant, let him provide the original design from which it was copied, and determine the% of uniqueness from it.
A sense of proportion must be present and an understanding that the bike originally had two wheels and no one ideally changed this no matter how hard they tried.
There are no scanners, because to compare one site with a billion others, to put it mildly, is difficult and few people need it for sure.
It is pointless to look for a "service" for each client's question that will help you find the answer. There could be a myriad of reasons for such a claim from a client. For example:
1. He wants another option from you.
2. It has deja vu on your design.
3. His wife said that she saw your site somewhere
4. His leg itched and he decided to do some damage
5. He has vision problems and is color blind
, etc. A
freelancer must not only have certain professional skills, but also be able to sell yourself and your product.
I feel sorry for you designers. I immediately abandoned the design, only the code.
If you make a symbiosis from other people's layouts and bring your creativity to the site, in the form of a client's logo, then you can get quite a lot of problems, but it depends on the level of the customer and on the sources themselves that are used when creating the design.
The point is the price and terms of the order. If the customer pays a large amount and requires a unique design, do not take it if you cannot create from scratch according to the technical specifications. If this is a site for 10,000, then there is another story. But in any case, one must be honest with the customer and openly say that: "I am convinced that all current design is a kind of symbiosis."
Again, if you cross the design from free or purchased paid templates, you are right, in agreement with the customer. But if the templates were not bought, or for example, something was clearly stolen, the owner of the site, i.e. the customer, will receive the header from the copyright holder, and then he will deal with you and you will have to compensate for financial, moral and other damage.
