How to change the default opening programs?

docx format files open in WordPad, you need to open in MS Office 2007 (2010). The doc format opens (saves) normally. When saving a file in MS Office in docx format, the icon also automatically changes to WordPad. I go to "default programs" and try to uncheck docx in WordPad, but I don't want to uncheck the box (screen below). What could be the problem ?

On the docx file, right-click - open with - another application (or something like that), select Word and check the box Always use this application
