Good afternoon. There was a following problem. There is a site on joomla 3. Everything works, except:
if we access a page that does not exist, we get a 500 error instead of 400. The question is how to get around this problem and what solutions exist?

Enable display of errors in the global settings of Joomla and read the text of error 500 - what specifically swears at. If you have access to the web server logs, you can read the error decoding there as well. Without this information, further assistance will not be possible.
