How to catalog the rest besides music, films and books?
I thought about it and decided to ask for advice from knowledgeable people. Much software has been written for computers to catalog music, movies, and books. But let's say, if I want to make a home catalog of boots and socks, what should I do - do I really write it myself (I didn’t find anything ready), or is there some kind of good program that I couldn’t catch on Google?

Well, explore the market, study the demand and go. If everything is confirmed, there is a chance to become a monopolist in the market of programs - catalogs of socks.
I think it’s not convenient to catalog socks in this way (like most household items): firstly, they are not in the virtual world (it’s better to have a notebook for this), and secondly, you often have to update information (the place where they are now located / condition / quantity, etc.).
But, by the way, I have a small list of all my wires: 5 USB-MiniUSB, 2 DVI, etc., but I have never really used it yet.
Of course I support. So far I'm using Excel with columns: category, title, count and something else + filter. And you can edit quickly, and print, and not lose. But, of course, I would like a special program.
There are programs for maintaining collections - you can store anything in them.
Under Linux, there is tellico-project.org/ - I haven’t tried it myself, but the instructions say that the user can create their own collection types.
And so you can also search among programs / sites for managing home finances - after all, they can manage not only money, but also things bought with them.
I propose a hardcore way: put everything in XML, assign tags in attributes to each object.
And how this XML is displayed, edited and where to store it is already according to the situation and personal preferences. In fact, most software does this inside, but the interface sharpens for specific objects - CDs, books, etc.
