How to cancel Windows XP update?

Good day.
Something pulled me to update WinXP to another version from the desktop from the disk, in order to change the key to a legal one. And then the installer decided to freeze - "The installation will be completed in 35 minutes. And the progress bar is stuck in the middle. Installing devices."
Tell me where to dig to disable this installer.
Do not offer to install from scratch. KeyUpdateTool stopped working, as well as activating Windows over the Internet.
