How to call a method of building access networks?

Tell. Is there any correct name for the following methods of building access networks?

Option 1 - at one end of the network there is a fat BRAS, at the other end there are clients, between them there is a huge complex L2 network that transparently connects the bras with the client.

Option 2 - at each "location" there is a weaker "bracket", but with exactly the same functionality, a personal VLAN from the border will reach everyone, a PtP network and OSPF / BGP run inside the vlan.

Interactions with billing are the same, only in the second case, of course, you must indicate on which router the client lives.
