How to "bypass" the gateway?

I am now most likely to be booed for a stupid question, but still:
Is it possible to somehow bypass the network gateway?
For example, there are two computers in different networks, 1 and 2. Com 1 (192.168.0.2) sends data to computer 2. Since they are in different networks, all data flow goes to the gateway computer 1, let the gateway (router) be 192.168.0.1 . That is, the data does not go directly, as it would be in a local network. The data goes to 192.168.0.2 ---> 192.168.0.1 ---> and so on...
Is it possible to drop the gateway somehow and transfer data to a direct computer 2 located in another network? If this is not possible, are there any alternatives? And did I freely understand that when the cable is directly connected to the computer (that is, without a router), the computer itself becomes a gateway? That is, both the ip and the gateway of the computer will be the same.
