How to buy a laptop on ebay?

Hello, I want to buy a used thinkpad x1 carbon laptop on ebay. But since I have never bought anything through this site, I would like to ask experienced people about this topic, namely:
1. What payment method is preferable and why? (paypal, visa... )
2. Is it possible to somehow check the decency of the seller in advance? rating or something like that.
3. Delivery by courier or post office?
4. If the product does not match the description or is broken, how can I return the money?
5. Well, can you advise something else?
