How to build linux without linux?
I looked at several tutorials on building the linux kernel and they are all built using linux, how to break the vicious circle? I have Windows 8.1, I want to build a very small distribution kit for a flash drive to run a remote desktop and nvflash (nvidia firmware)

0) put another screw
-1) coLinux -- last time I looked, it worked only on x32 (Win7)
2) vmware/virtualbox + any distro with dev-packages
3) used it for a long time -- buy a LOT of RAM, install debian/. .. to a flash drive, boot from it, mount all working directories (build/ src/ tmp/ root/) under tmpfs
4) 0+3: add a 64-128G ssd disk for the base system, mSATA is relevant for the laptop, working directories mount as tmpfs
