How to build django interaction with another external "bot" script?

I'm making a telegram bot, it runs as a separate py script, spins in a loop. What can you think of to send commands to it with django? I did a similar thing, built their interaction through redis, django added new entries, and the bot constantly monitored their presence, but it seems to me that this is a cruel crutch
