How to boot windows 7 from a SATA drive relocated to a USB case?

The essence of the problem - there was a SATA disk with a system on a laptop, working. Changed to a new one, put the old one in the case. Now, when trying to boot from a USB drive on the same laptop, a STOP error 0x0000007B is issued. It is clear that this is due to the controller driver.
The question is how to easily and quickly change the driver on an external drive and force the system to boot. From experience - what settings need to be changed or how and with what to fix the registry. Does anyone have a link to the correct recipe? There are plenty of recipes, but not all about that.
