How to block an IP address that is being pinged?

There is a small game server that is periodically attacked at the application level (essentially by game bots), but as I noticed, all proxies ping or have an open port. The essence of the question: how to block an IP address if it gives a positive result when trying to ping?

This is a bad criterion for blocking. Addresses of respectable users can be pinged in exactly the same way - it depends on the equipment settings on the other side.

Well, if you want to shoot yourself in the foot, then for God's sake - write a script that will pull all connections from netstat, ping and add it to the firewall blocklist.
The only problem is that it’s easier even then to just add the entire IPv4 block to the blocklist and not worry - the result is the same and there is less crap :)

Shl. First, read what it is, then do ...
ZZY. Take a hosting with DDOS protection, the same https://vpshoster.ru for example)
