How to backup CentOS BitrixVM?

I'm going to update BitrixVM from 7.0 to 7.2.2 Bitrix itself recommends making a backup of the server before updating it, and they will blow my head if I don't do this and a fatal error happens. But surprisingly, Bitrix itself does not say how to do it. And the Internet at the request of the Bitrix machine does not give anything. I have only basic knowledge in administration, so I ask you not to throw too many tomatoes for this question.

virtual machines are backed up by means of a hypervisor. For example turn off the machine and just copy the hard disk image file....
