Tell me how I can backup my home server or immediately convert it into a virtual machine image for later use.
On the server side, you need to reinstall it and run it with the xen module or kernel (I don’t know for sure) in order to transfer this OS on the server to a virtual machine.
how it all works: A home computer with Debian 9 and two 500gb hard drives in a debian software raid 1 array.
you need all the configs and the site itself with a mysql database.
tried through rsync , most likely not so, he did something. when I copied it to the installed virtual machine after a reboot, I cursed at the UUID and asked for a kernel module. with dd, it makes a snapshot of the whole disk, and this is 500gb, it’s not possible to turn it around later. now сlonezila but he, as I understand it, does not know how to work with software raid. there is full access to the server's hard drives, i.e. I can connect them (one of the two) immediately to the virtual machine and at the same time boot from iso, there is also a hard drive that can also be connected to the virtual machine and copy everything there.
