Linux installation of different versions of programs?

Hello.
Installed Debian, and faced such a problem that the program from the repository can only be installed with the version that is in it. I needed to install MySql 5.1. I downloaded the deb packages and installed with dpkg -i
But there were dependency conflicts.
Essence of the question. Which linux with which package manager will help resolve issues with dependency conflicts?
And is it possible to install multiple versions of the same program, let's say MySql?

Use lxc containers for such purposes. MySQL 5.1 is a fossil, put the version of the distribution kit that is modern for this version in the container and keep it there. Do not roll fossils on live servers :)
