How to automatically receive the announcement of a new video on a youtube channel?

Well, the whole point of the question is in the title.
I need to issue with a short delay (no more than 5 minutes, preferably within 2) notifications about new videos on a specific channel.
As I understand it, there are 2 ways to get - either get a push from the service, or check it yourself periodically.
Naturally, the first option is preferable, but as far as I know the api of YouTube, it’s still ... Therefore, I don’t know how this can be implemented without left sources (ala ifttt).
If it is impossible, then in what steppe to look? Through api?
ps I did not work with api. He only wrote standalons and parsers.
