How to approach a permanent and easily-restorable VPS backup under Windows 2008 R2?
There is a VPS from a large French hosting company that is known for using used desktop equipment.
The VPS is configured as an RDP server where several users work in the office / chrome / etc.
The hoster offers backup services but they are not suitable for many reasons (price / frequency / etc.).
Since a lot of time was spent on setting up all this, I would like to have an automated and economical backup that, in which case, it will be easy to restore everything including:
- Windows settings (including installed services, software, rdp settings, etc.)
- user settings (logins / passwords , settings, software for specific accounts, etc.)
- users' personal files
I looked in the direction of the utility built into Windows, but it makes a copy of the complete system on its own local drives, but the problem is that a 50GB disk is already occupied by 30GB and is gradually growing, i.e. there won't be enough space.
I would like the backup to be incremental, hosted, for example, on S3 / Glacier / Azure, and in which case it can be easily restored to any Windows without manual settings from scratch.
Thank you!
