How to add another router?

The local network of the enterprise has grown and ip-addresses are no longer enough. We decided to stick another router, but faced the problem of prescribing routes. What needs to be registered on each router? On Router 2 the wan port is not being pinged. Should it ping for routing?
As routers we use (for example):
Router 1 - endian firewall 2.5.1
Router 2 - d-link dfl-260e

Isn't it easier to make a mask more? 255.255.254.0 ?
and do not install a second Router

On the router, one needs to register that the network 192.168.10.0/24 lies behind the router 192.168.0.19. And that's all.
