How should the site admin panel look like?

No development experience, but there is a great desire to implement your own web project (at least purely for yourself).

I'm building my site for user-generated content. Of the closest analogues, Zen and Irecommend can be distinguished.

As a power user and content consumer, I have an eye for what a "canonical" web application should look like. What functionality does it have and what capabilities should the user have. But only from the user's point of view.

I have no idea what the admin panel should look like and what functionality it should have other than the obvious: user content moderation, key performance statistics, feedback forms and user support.

Have any of you worked on similar user-generated projects that involve multiple user registrations and know how it should work?

I have a strong feeling that I'm missing something important...

There is no silver bullet.
Any CMS, any blogging engine, any forum engine. Learn, compare.

Set yourself a WordPress, some kind of forum, a couple of different stores and see what they have in the admin panel.
If it's lazy to put - look at their reviews.
For dashboards, I like adminLTE - a concise user-friendly interface, quite a lot of widgets out of the box, and you don't have to pretend to be a designer - most of the elements are already rendered.

The WordPress admin area was more developed for people who are not familiar with programming, so that they can make changes to their site without experiencing difficulties. If your project does not assume that such people will be allowed to the admin panel, then I recommend that you turn your attention to the admin panel of October CMS. A very modern appearance is adjacent to the proper functionality.

Well, for starters, make user management in the admin panel. Then add something else.
Again, really - set yourself any forum or wordpress, go to their admin panel, spend an hour there, see what is there.
It is not necessary to write in the admin panel everything you need at once. Write a minimum, and then add - your own project. You will see for yourself what you are missing.
