How profitable is it to use the mobile version instead of the adaptive one?

Switching is carried out from the back and in fact these are two different layouts with one database and almost the same content on the same domain without a subdomain. Are there any submarines?

If the design and layout is sold to the customer as two/three separate works, then the Profit can be 100%, 200%, and 300%.
Here, IMHO, the main profit and pitfall.
From the point of view of the performer, maintaining two different branches of layout / design is an increase in his labor costs. With a free zoom, a free headache. Well, the general "architectural dissonance" in the background.
Although such a division can be justified if
a) we support the existing solution. Reworking layout/design into "one stream" is more expensive than support for several years
b) layout for mobile devices and for desktops are very different
c) two lines of layout are provided and supported by the platform (for example, SharePoint). In some cases, this is point a .

It should come from the task. You really need a different interface when:

  • A truncated or different functionality is being implemented, or it does not make sense to implement the same interface on the phone (size / orientation, etc.)
  • Critical quick access to a limited set of functions in terms of traffic savings
