How much does a frontend developer need to know?

Oh great gurus, how much technology do you need to know on average (frameworks, libraries) so that you are not ashamed to go to an interview or start freelancing (how best to practice)? Does it make sense to use backbone in today's realities? In general, what should be a must have?

html / css / js will be enough, this is the basis, the rest of the libraries / frameworks are acquired and each company has its own requirements

See what MaxKorz advised you.
For a junior, HTML CSS is enough, like our father. A couple of fully designed templates, incl. float and flex layout.
JS at the level of variable manipulation, processing of strings and arrays.
jQuery, how to work with selectors, AJAX, basic functions.
Sorax and Cantor video tutorials as a plus.

firstly, an interview and freelancing are different things that are suppressed by 10%
at most; secondly, when going for an interview as a junior, it is better to know one area well than to be a specialist in analytical articles on the Internet about promising technologies and trends in modern poultry farming. This area was named above.
